2008 Midget Evaluations

Thanks to all the players who came out this past weekend for evaluations. The weather was great and everything ran smoothly. Hopefully we will have the same luck with the weather for the players scheduled to be evaluated this coming weekend.

A big thank you to Jay Livingston and Shane Lucci and running the evaluations, and to all of those who helped out by running drills, etc.

What is going to happen after these evaluations are done?

This question was asked over the past weekend. Once a player is evaluated, it will be a waiting game until such time the AAA coaches are appointed and the initial AAA draft is held. This is anticipated to happen December/January, maybe sooner. Players drafted by a midget AAA coach in the initial draft will be contacted and will most likely begin "tryout" sessions with that team in January.

Depending on applications, we are anticipating picking midget AA coaches following the selection of the AAA coaches.

Please check this website for periodic updates on where we are in the process.

2008 Midget Registrations now being accepted. If you are interested in playing midget baseball in 2008, please register as soon as possible.

****IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR 2008 MIDGET BASEBALL****

The registration forms for the 2008 will be in the mail this week. The
deadline date for submitting these registration forms is quite short so
please ensure you give them your prompt attention.

22/23 and September 29/30, 2007. All evaluations will be held at Optimist
Park. Registered players will be contacted with their specific evaluation
date and time.

Please inform anyone interested in playing midget baseball in the 2008

Update - April 18
The Regina Midget Baseball Council is pleased to announce the team rosters and coaches for the 3 Midget A teams: 2007 Midget A Rosters

Update - April 17
The Regina Midget Baseball Council is pleased to announce the Midget AA team rosters/coaches for the 2007 season: 2007 Midget AA Rosters

Update - April 3
The Midget AA draft was held Monday, April 2. The three (3) midget AA teams drafted a total of 67 players. These players will be contacted by the coach that drafted them in the next day or two. All three midget AA teams will have their first work-out the morning of Saturday, April 7. One team will be at 9:00 a.m., one at 10:00 a.m. and one at 11:00 a.m. Your coach will inform you of your teams work-out time.

Players drafted please be aware that this does not necessarily mean you have made the team. The coaches will be working with you over the next two weeks and will be cutting down to their final AA roster no later than Saturday, April 14.

All players not drafted by a midget AA team will be contacted in the next few days with a schedule of work-out times over the next couple of weeks.

All teams, including midget A teams will be formed no later than April 15. This will give all players a couple of weeks to work out with their respective teams prior to the start of the 2007 baseball season.

As was the case last year, the Midget A league will be a more recreational, shortened season. Due to the shortened schedule, the players playing midget A baseball will be refunded a portion of their league fees. The actual amount is yet to be determined.

Again, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact one of the Regina Midget Council members.

Midget AA & A Update - March 30, 2007

The Regina Midget Baseball Council has determined that we will be forming 3 AA and 3 A midget teams for the upcoming 2007 season. There are a number of out of town teams participating at both the AA and A level this year. The A league will consist of 8-9 teams.

The Regina Midget Baseball Council has selected the AA coaches and the Regina AA draft will be held on Monday, April 2. The three coaches will each be drafting 18-20 players and will work out with them over the next couple of weeks. They must submit their final rosters to the midget council no later than April 14. The 3 Midget A teams will be formed on April 15.

We have secured the services of a couple of individuals who will be holding work-outs over the next couple of weeks for those players not selected in the initial AA draft. This will ensure all midget players have the opportunity to tune up their skills for approximately 1 month prior to the start of the season. More information on this will be posted shortly.

As was the case last year, the Midget A league will be a more recreational, shortened season. If you are more interested in playing A and do not want your name to be considered in the AA draft, please e-mail Bonnie Peters at bonniepeters@sasktel.net, prior to Monday, April 2.

Due to the shortened schedule, the players playing midget A baseball will be refunded a portion of their league fees. The actual amount is yet to be determined.

As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact any member of the Regina Midget Baseball Council.
